The manufacturing process of high borosilicate glass is adding glaze sodium silicate sand, soda water and lime. Because the melting temperature of high borosilicate glass is higher than that of ordinary silicate glass, some new technologies and processes are needed in the manufacturing process.
High borosilicate glass has very low coefficient of thermal expansion, only about one third of ordinary glass. This will reduce the influence caused by temperature gradient stress and thus have stronger fracture resistance. Because of its very small shape deviation, it has become an indispensable material for telescopes and mirrors. At the same time, it can also be used to treat high-level radioactive nuclear waste. Even if the temperature changes suddenly, the high borosilicate glass is not easy to break. When broken, large cracks will appear in high borosilicate glass, rather than crushing into particles. At the same time, high borosilicate glass has low dispersion and relatively low refractive index.
Because of its very low thermal expansion coefficient and high temperature resistance, high borosilicate glass is an important material for making halogen lamp reflector and heat-resistant lampshade, microwave oven special glass turntable, microwave oven lampshade, stage lamp reflector cup, drum washing machine observation window, heat-resistant teapot cup, solar collector tube, etc.
